My name is Justin Smith, founder of Island Pacific Mapping, an industrial drone solutions company based on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. With over 20 years of experience in civil design, drafting, and survey support, I bridge the gap between traditional engineering and cutting-edge UAV technology.

As a Transport Canada Advanced RPA Pilot and FAA Part 107 Certified Operator, I provide fully compliant aerial data acquisition across both Canada and the United States. My work specializes in survey-grade photogrammetry, LiDAR mapping, topographic modeling, and construction monitoring, delivering precision data that drives smarter engineering decisions.

I founded Island Pacific Mapping in 2020 with a clear vision — to make high-quality aerial mapping accessible to engineers, municipalities, and developers across the Pacific Coast. Using professional-grade equipment such as DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2, DJI Avata 2, Sony A7C DSLR, and DJI RS2 Gimbal, I produce highly accurate, visually stunning deliverables — from orthomosaic maps to 3D terrain models and inspection imagery.

My engineering background gives me an edge in understanding what civil designers, surveyors, and project managers truly need from aerial data. Whether it’s grading a corridor, tracking site progress, or creating construction-ready deliverables, I approach every project with the precision and reliability of an engineer and the eye of a photographer.

Beyond the technical side, I’m passionate about creative problem-solving and craftsmanship — qualities I’ve also honed as a trained luthier and guitar builder. Every project I take on reflects that same dedication to accuracy, beauty, and integrity.
